Design Industry Voices: retaining and attracting talent

Did you know that almost two-fifths of key people within design and digital agencies are planning to change jobs when the recession ends?

For them, enough is enough.

It isn’t about money; it’s about respect and appreciation. If significant numbers leave, clients may decide to form relationships elsewhere. Agencies also risk being too stretched to seize new opportunities. There is no difference between small and large agencies or between happy and unhappy workplaces - what employees feel is important to them is the same across the industry and the number of dissatisfied employees statistically makes it a potential issue for every agency.

These insights come from the 2009 Design Industry Voices survey, published 3 December 2009. The survey provides a clear picture of how it feels to work within UK design and digital agencies right now and is available to download from http://www.designindustryvoices.com.

What can you do to keep and attract talent in your agency?

We believe agencies must empower their managers to lead and nurture their teams so employees are involved in ensuring agency’s and personal success.

We’d like you to join us at a short breakfast seminar in January 2010 aimed at agency owners and senior managers. The Design Industry Voices team will reveal further unpublished insights from the survey, offering practical ideas for how to retain and attract talent.
